California WorldFest celebrates its 20th year this July at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley. The festival began in 1997 as a showcase for artists performing music and dance from the United States and around the world.
Executive Director Julie Baker talks about some of the changes to come, and WorldFest's progression to become more community-oriented while remaining globally-minded.
The festival will run from July 14-17 and will feature more than 50 artists perfoming on eight stages, plus camping, workshops, international food and a children's program.
WorldFest draws inspiration from the Vancouver Folk Festival, Strawberry Music Festival, MerleFest in North Carolina, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival and the Newport Folk Festival.
