This year’s California WorldFest lineup features an eclectic, global mix of musicians, from reggae artists to zydeco bands and busker types. Recently, platinum-selling, jazz-pop recording artist Boz Scaggs joined the list, serving as the recognizable, mainstream anchor to the whole proceeding.
Scheduled for July 14-17 in Grass Valley, Calif., at the heart of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, WorldFest celebrates its 20th anniversary with a host of interesting acts from all over the world who are there not only to entertain but enlighten.
The entire festival is about more than getting your rocks off musically. California WorldFest organizers pride themselves on putting on a world music party focused on conscious, environmentally friendly living. Besides live concerts by bands like Latin EDM MC Boogat from Montreal and Portland’s R&B-pop punch, Dirty Revival, the festival offers homesteading classes to help people live independent, self-sustaining lives.
The classes cover bee keeping, preservation and nature education, and canning. The 20th anniversary edition promises even more workshops, demonstrations, dancing, live music, and good times, with more artists coming on board every day.
The performers are also ready to interact with the public in a meaningful way by sharing their culture through music, dance, crafts, stories, and their traditional instruments.
